Elderly Care

All of our staff receive thorough and in-depth training during their induction which provides them with the knowledge, understanding and tools to support elderly individuals in the familiarity and comfort of their own homes. We provide care based on the needs of individuals, this can be from half hour to 24 hour live-in care. Our staff support service users to maintain their current levels independence, taking into consideration their capabilities and limitations. Our friendly team are able to support with all daily living tasks such as personal care, continence care, meal preparation, medication management, money management, light domestic work and so on. We believe continuity of care is essential to build natural professional relationships between service users and staff and we will try our upmost to ensure continuity across our care services. We want family and loved ones of service users to have peace of mind that they are in safe and capable hands, we therefore fully encourage family/advocate involvement through preferred communication systems. 


Companionship & Support

At Lotus Care and Support Services we wish to combat loneliness and isolation through services such as companionship visits. We place importance on mental health as well as physical health as this is what contributes to individuals overall wellbeing. Having company and interaction from one of our friendly carers can have huge benefits for service users. Companionship visits can vary, one week you may want to have a chat, a cup of tea and watch a film, whereas the next week you could want a short walk in the community (depending on levels of mobility); this time can truly be utilized to what contributes to your self esteem! Care staff are able to share hobbies and interests with service users; this gives individuals something to look forward to. We can even support service users with a day out, maybe to the sea side or the local garden centre, the possibilities are endless. Our companionships services are for people of all ages (over 18). We can ease feelings of loneliness with a trusted and familiar face. 


Dementia Care

Our care staff complete thorough and in-depth dementia training during the induction and recruitment process, to ensure they have the appropriate level of understanding and knowledge to deliver care services to individuals experiencing dementia.. Our friendly management team visit service users to ensure their home environment remains safe and can advise on adaptations and complete necessary referrals. This is reviewed often and our care staff are competent to report concerns safety to ensure those experiencing dementia are kept safe, always. Changing needs are anticipated for those diagnosed with dementia; therefore we carry out regular reviews, execute ongoing monitoring and complete bespoke care planning. We are able to support individuals who have been diagnosed with dementia to maintain an independent life at home; dependent on their capabilities and limitations. Quality care provided in service users homes by regular and consistent care staff can have a big effect on alleviating and potentially even slowing the progression of dementia symptoms. Providing regular, specially trained care staff and regular routines can reduce distress for those diagnosed with dementia. Typically, routines and consistency are essential for those experiencing dementia, and we aim to provide both. 


Daily Living Support 

Personal care is the most common daily living tasks that individuals require support with. Personal care consists of washing, bathing, showering, dressing, personal grooming, bed bathing, shaving (electric razor only), oral hygiene, toilet assistance and incontinence care etc. Support with these tasks are provided by fully trained and competent care staff. Our team ensures that dignity of service users is always maintained whilst carrying out personal care tasks to help individuals feel at ease. Care staff are instructed to be not only discreet, but professional at all times during incontinence/personal care tasks. Service users bespoke care plans detail personal care routines and the level of support that is required (e.g. minimal support/full support). It is imperative for service user to maintain their current levels of independence and our staff understand that some service users require more / less support than others; some may just need help with hard to reach areas, whereas others require full support. Our carers have all completed training regarding safety techniques and methods to physically support our service users throughout their personal care routines, ensuring modesty and dignity are always a priority throughout. It is essential that staff apply a sensitive approach to intimate tasks such as personal care and/or continence care. Other daily living tasks that our care staff can support with include; medication management, application of prescribed creams, money management, food and drink preparation, light domestic tasks and social stimulation. All of our staff have regular "refresher" training and ongoing monitoring of their performance to make certain that we provide a consistently high level of quality care.


Specialist Care

Specialist care is providing services to individuals with complex conditions that need require specific expertise or equipment. We understand that time with your family and loved ones is essential, and therefore we are able to provide specialist care to relieve you of your caring duties, ranging from respite and/or regular visits, to 24-hour live-in care. We are able to support individuals who have a long-term illness and/or disability as well as individuals with a life limiting diagnosis. Our aim is to support individuals to live an independent and fulfilling life dependent on their needs and capabilities/limitations with the appropriate level of care and support. Our carers provide emotional support as well as practical support; from a listening ear to support with mobility. If a service user has a condition and/or disability that is not covered in staff induction training; we will source specialist training from accredited training providers and/or the district nursing team. 


Respite Care 

Respite care is arranged either for temporary periods of time (e.g. family holiday) or a permanent and ongoing arrangement to provide support; as and when required. Respite can also be provided as a one-off visit (e.g. family day trip). This service is fully flexible to meet the needs of service users and their families/carers. Durations of respite care vary widely depending on what is needed and the needs of the individual receiving the care are. Our care managers will visit individuals and their families within their home environment to carry out assessments, discuss care needs and observe routines; during this meeting, it essential to carry out risk assessments and get to know the wellbeing and background of service users. This information will then be devised into a bespoke care plan that details exactly how the service users would like their care and support to be delivered that is sensitive to their preferences and values. Care managers will also gather information regarding frequency and modes of communication with relatives to ensure they are kept up to date and well-informed; this provides them with much needed reassurance and peace of mind that their loved one is in safe and capable hands. 


Hospital to Home

We are able to provide hospital to home care to support individuals returning home from hospital after discharge from illness or an operation. This can be for a certain time period after hospital (e.g. 8 weeks) to facilitate a successful transition home or it can be a continuous and ongoing arrangement if needed. Our friendly and professional care staff are on hand to support individuals to settle back into their home environment with support available when they arrive home; this not only encourages individuals to leave hospital but it also reduces the risk of repeating injuries leading to re-admission to hospital. Our care staff can provide support with; supervision of discharge arrangements, food shopping, live-in care, personal care tasks, medication management, physical assistance/support with safe mobility, housekeeping and escorting to appointments. Our care managers are able to complete re-assessment of needs to ensure service users are continuously receiving the right level of care. This service is available from half hour daily to 24-hour live-in care, whatever your needs require, we are happy to help!


Live-In Care

Live-in care is a fantastic and flexible service that allows service users to remain safely in their own home for as long as possible. We understand that for many people, the idea of going into a long-term residential care can be overwhelming, and for those wishing to not take this route, live-in care is a perfect alternative! Live-in care provides service users with help and support from a full time carer living in their home. Care staff can provide services from personal care right through to household tasks; and anything in between; including errands, shopping and activities. Live-in care is completely bespoke and flexible to support the needs of the individual. Our care staff are able to live in service users homes for an agreed period of time, or as an ongoing service. We work with you and your family to create a bespoke care plan which details health conditions, care needs, desired outcomes and personal interests. We believe it is imperative that service users feel they are in control of the care; we can ensure choices are understood and individual levels of independence are maintained. Live-in care provides individuals with not only peace of mind, but also reassurance that there is another person in the house at all times that is able to support and assist you as and when required, as well as in cases of emergency. This reassurance is absolutely key to providing confidence to service users to continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible.
